The goat herder’s cry is a series of new paintings by Grant Nimmo that depict an imagined folklore. They tell the tale of a goat herder protecting his goat, set in a bleak landscape reminiscent of Western District Victoria. The works incorporate elements of local heraldry and symbolism drawn from Victorian history over the past 154 years.

Grant Nimmo has held solo exhibitions at Anna Pappas Gallery, West Space, Chapter House Lane, TCB, Stockroom Kyneton, Rearview, Evan Hughes Gallery and Sawtooth, and participated in group exhibitions at Bus Projects, Athens Art Fair, Melbourne Art Fair, Seventh, Death Be Kind, Korean International Art Fair and Gertrude Contemporary. He is the recipient of the 2013 Linden Art Prize and has been shortlisted for the John Leslie Prize, Paul Guest Prize and Metro Art Award.
